Seaside, Oregon is a bustling, touristy town just eight miles
north of Cannon Beach. It is a place like no other on the Oregon Coast
where you can drive right up to the Pacific Ocean on Seaside’s landmark
turnaround on Broadway. Broadway Street which is filled with art galleries,
specialty stores, and coffee and fudge shops and of course all the games and
bumper car rides your tireless children can endure.
Amazing sights surround this little beach community. On the east, the Oregon Coast
range bellows out to you with its mist and low hanging clouds. To the very stretch of the imagination, on the west end lays the enormity of the Pacific Ocean. The Necanicum River runs
directly out of the mountains and straight through the heart of the city, allowing you to take
a leisurely paddleboat ride or do a little river fishing. The Necanicum essentially divides
the business district on the south side and the residences and quaint motels on the edge
of north side.
Seaside is a town of many options. There are fine restaurants in which to dine
such as Kalypso's or for the more casual diner, the famous Pig n’ Pancake which has
been feeding ravenous beachcombers since 1967. You can also stop for snacks at one of
the many espresso shops that line the boardwalk along Broadway, the main drag in
town.
There is an array of accommodations in Seaside akkowing any visitor to have
a comfy, cozy room from which to watch one of the amazing Oregon beach storms or
rub on aloe vera gel after a scorcher of a summer’s day. Seaside’ s motels and
hotels offer a large range in their prices so that one may choose from the
beachfront hotels running you $80 to upwards of $200 per night depending on
the season to ones off the beaten path that will surprise you when you check
in for $50 with a bedroom and a kitchen. It all depends on where the motel/hotel
is located and how far you are willing to walk to get beach access. This does not
seem to be much of a problem in Seaside though, for most of the motels/hotels are
within a few blocks of the boardwalk or Broadway Street.
There is even a hostel! #503-738-7911.
