Ashland, Oregon

The epicenter of art and culture in Oregon would have to be Ashland. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is held in Ashland every year and is one of the oldest in the Western Hemisphere. The performances are held in a large outdoor Elizabethan stage house and two indoor theatres. An exhibit center features costumes and photographs to see.

Another favorite pasttime is the Pacific Northwest Museum of Natural History. The museum boasts hands on exhibits that appeal to all five senses regarding the the diverse northwest ecosystem. When at the museum, you are given your own access code so that you may be able to personally interact with each exhibit. You are then presented with a record of your exhibits when you are finished.

If the outdoors is more your style, visit the 100-acre Lithia Park. The park boasts hiking, horseshoes, picnicking, tennis and more. The park was named because it has water that contains a small amount of Lithium, said to calm the nerves in all of its water fountains. Mounta Ashland is just minutes from downtown, is a favorite of skiiers and snowboarders alike. There are also quite a number of lakes that permit fishing and are great for water sports.
