Albany, Oregon
Originally settled by two brothers from Albany, New York, Albany boasts a population nearing 30,000. Albany is peppered with Victorian homes from the mid-1800s to 1900s that have been left representing life as it was at the turn of the century.
Looking for some fun? Come see the World Championship Timber Carnival in July.
The carnival boasts tree climbing and topping, ax throwing and birling - balancing upright on a floating log while spinning it.
Another popular pastime is visiting the many covered bridges. Oregon has the most covered bridges outside of New England and a great many of them are here in Albany.
