Prineville, Oregon
Prineville is northeast of Prineville and has a population of just under 3,000. The rimrocks that
surround Prineville, as well as the other unusual geologic features make it a perfect hangout for
rockhounds. In late June, collectors gather at the annual Rockhound Pow Wow to swap different stories about
their geologic findings.
Prineville has a reservoir for boating and fishing in the summer and many great
hiking trails lie in the woods surrounding Prineville. In the wintertime you are just a half
hour away from Mt. Bachelor and the activities are endless. You can try your luck on a snowmobile, cross
country ski, and/or downhill ski depending on your preference.
Prineville is a quaint little town with down home cooking and good coffee shops. Should you happen by Prineville it is worth the twenty extra
miles east to see Prineville.
