Pendleton, Oregon

Pendleton is a small, yet bustling town of 16,000 is mostly a farming community nestled into soft, rolling hills. Pendleton houses the Pendleton Woolen Mills where blankets and clothes are made and sold all over the country. You can tour the Mill, located on Court Place, Monday through Friday 9-11am and 1:30-3pm.

There is also a wonderful place, The Heritage Station Museum, with statues and antiques, a steam engine and caboose that you can walk through, and a schoolhouse that was once used and moved to the museum. The museum is open daily.

Last, but certainly not least is The Pendleton Round-Up. It is the largest rodeo in Oregon and actually doubles the town’s population for the duration. It has everything a rodeo should have with bare backing, calf roping, bull riding and barrel racing. The town always hosts the rodeo the second weekend in September.

Close to Pendleton, at exit 216, is the Umatilla Indian Reservation that has the Tamastslikt Cultural Center and the Wild Horse Casino. Around the area are a golf course, RV park, and store.
