Troutdale, Oregon
Troutdale is the gateway to the Columbia River Gorge. It is full of fast food restaurants for the hungry
traveler and even a truck stop. It may seem an odd place to have an outlet mall, but the very successful Columbia
River Gorge Outlet Mall is a bustling place with many stores including The Gap, Levi’s, and Mikasa.
Just outside Troutdale is Oxbow State Park, which has the scenic, yet fast Sandy River. There is
plenty of camping at Oxbow, but for the less outdoorsy types there are two motels in Troutdale: The Holiday Inn
Express and East Portland Gresham Travelodge.
McMenamins’s, a locally owned brewery and restaurant has its big Edgefield
Lodge just west of Troutdale. This old converted farm was restored and boasts two restaurants,
a brewery, wine tasting, glass blowing and its own small movie theatre. There is much to do there for adults and
kids alike and in the summers you just might find yourself dancing to some local folk music in the yard.
